A class for everyone - no experience needed, just lots of enthusiasm to learn a new skill!

This course is for beginners and will teach you the basics of ceramics, including throwing and a range of hand building techniques.

Led by tutor Angus Grant, you will make a mug, pinch pot, vase and an embossed plate.

Classes will run on Tuesday nights, from 7pm-9pm. The course starts on August 22, finishing on October 10.

Our weekly programme is:

Week 1 – Introduction to handbuilding, making a mug based on a simple form.

Week 2 & 3 – Introduction to throwing and making pinch pots.

Week 4 & 5 – Developing throwing and building a vase using slab.

Week 6 – Finishing all work and making an embossed plate. All work will be fired after this week.

Week 7 – First week of glazing - using underglaze to decorate ceramics.

Week 8 – Second week of glazing – experimenting with reactive glazes

Price includes all materials, use of equipment and firing of up to five ceramic items. Any additional items to be fired will be charged at £10 per piece to cover firing costs.
