Meet Tania
Tania Mackie is a contemporary Scottish artist whose work captures the spirit, energy, and emotion of the natural world. Based in the picturesque village of Cromarty, on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands, Tania is inspired daily by the stunning coastal views, dynamic skies, and maritime atmosphere that surround her. Ever-changing sea conditions and elemental drama that are deeply present in her work.
Tania’s art explores the intersection of innovation and emotion, offering a vivid reflection of Scotland’s landscapes—its mountains, seas, and skies. Her background as an archaeological illustrator informs her distinctive style, rich in line, layers, and form. Working mainly in oils, watercolours and gouache, she paints both in her studio and en plein air, often drawing on her experiences as a sea kayaker and adventurer to translate moments of movement and light into visual stories.
Tania also shares her creative process through workshops, held both online and from her Cromarty studio. These sessions are open to all skill levels and provide a warm, supportive space to explore creativity, whether through group classes or one-to-one guidance. She also undertakes personal commissions, offering clients the chance to collaborate on bespoke artworks that speak to their own stories and sense of place.
