Having grown up, lived and worked in the Scottish Highlands, Ann's inspiration comes from the dramatic land forms that surround her. She is particularly captivated by the character-filled bothies and cottages which lie strewn across the area. Along with the fickle weather fronts experienced in the north,
these muses are a constant challenge and inspiration.
Sketching outdoors allows Ann to immerse completely in the mood and atmosphere of the subject, capturing her perception of its essence. When the work is exhibited, she loves to find out the back story.
