Our first Clay Club is coming to an end soon and we wanted to share some pictures of the group's work in the pottery.
Since the studio we've opened several ceramics workshops, teaching throwing and handbuilding. It's been wonderful to have students filling the studio with their enthusiasm for learning something new.
For the last few weeks, we've been trying something new. A group of ten people have joined Clay Club on Tuesday evenings, developing their skills in a range of pottery techniques. These have included slab building, embossing, pulling handles and of course, throwing on the wheel.
The last couple of weeks has seen everyone move onto glazing their work and learning about underglazes and reactive glazes. The group is now looking forward to seeing what their glazed pieces look like when they come out of the kiln.
It's been wonderful to have such an enthusiastic class coming to the studio each week. We've been impressed with their eagerness to learn and their creative ideas.
Big thanks to Fiona for helping Angus to run the class each week - we couldn't have done it without her.
Fancy learning something new?
More classes are on the way and we hope to run another Clay Club very soon. Check our Events page for details. Or you could join our mailing list to get advanced notice of when our classes are available for booking.
In the meantime, you might like to try drawing with local artist Jana Emburey. She'll be running a short drawing course in April, covering a range of subjects. It's perfect for beginners and anyone who wants to refresh their skills.
Classes will be in the studio on April 19, 26 and May 3, from 10am-1pm. Spaces are limited so booking is essential. Each class costs £33 each or £90 for the full course. Contact Jana for more details on studio@janaemburey.com
