Sunshine & Shadows: our new summer exhibition

We are gearing up for the start of our new summer exhibition – and this year there are two familiar faces showing their work.

Our very own Angus has been back at the easel and he’ll be hanging his work alongside that of Campbell Bryson, a favourite of our gallery.

Sunshine & Shadows is a reprise of the pair’s first collaborative exhibition – at Grantown Museum 14 years ago.

The event starts on Friday June 13 (don’t be superstitious!), with a preview event from 6pm to 9pm.

Campbell is the retired Head of Art and Design at Grantown Grammar. He now paints at his studio in Kincraig. His work is renowned for its treatment of light and shadow, creating almost mosaic-like patterns. Birch trees are a favourite subject.

And you all know Angus! He is currently on a career break from Grantown Grammar School and is due to return to teaching in August.

His new work features the familiar landscapes of the Cairngorms, especially the lochs and mountains.

Mr Grant said: “We’re still great friends and love talking about paintings. It’s lovely to reprise this exhibition after so many years.

“My career break has been a valuable opportunity to work on new paintings and projects and I am excited to be staging this show in my own art gallery.”

Angus and Campbell’s work will be the main feature until the middle of July, when we will be extending the show to include work by more of our favourite artists.
