Introducing Spey Bank Studio

Welcome to Spey Bank Studio!

We are delighted to bring this new arts centre to the heart of Grantown-on-Spey and hope you are just as excited.

As you might know, our new premises were used by the Bank of Scotland for many years and were visited by local residents and visitors over the time.

It was sad to see the branch shut - the loss of local services such as these is always a blow to a small community such as ours.

But we hope that our venture will bring new life to these ground floor offices.

Things are changing

Work is ongoing to renovate the building into an arts centre for the Cairngorms National Park.

In the front part of the building - the part of the bank where you paid in your money to the cashiers - there'll be a shop and flexible workshop and exhibition space.

Venture into the back rooms and you'll find a working pottery, complete with four wheels and kiln. This is where you can learn the basic skills of pottery, from throwing on the wheel to handbuilding to glazing.

Pottery lessons will be coming soon so keep checking our Events & Classes page now.

New art base

But the studio is also a new home for Angus Grant Art.

Angus will have his own studio here - in the former manager's office and will continue painting his beautiful landscapes and producing his popular range of ceramic mugs.

Let us know what you're looking forward to - leave a comment or email us directly.
